Not doing anything for what others want to see- this is what I took away from Kate Moross’s talk. Sharing work early and getting help is something that is becoming less evident in creative industries today. This has helped me during my flag task to be open with those around me to share ideas and open to work with new people/ideas. Although this task was very personal, like a company, we are working for an outcome not recognition. If that, earns sharing work early or getting others input, I would rather that then an unfinished less thought of outcome. “Over thinkers take longer to go wrong’. I love this quote as I am someone who struggles with perfection. I gave myself 10 minutes to chuck all my ideas onto a page about what makes my style, and from this gathered inspiration for some of these ideas. Giving myself a time limit made it so much easier to finalise what it is I wanted to illustrate and just go hands on. I was similarly inspired by the way Kate widened her talents from illustration to animation and videos. I am used to working in fine liner or pencil, or on my laptop. However, for this task I decided to push myself into charcoal and water colours. I am happy with this decision, as I would now be more open to using these medium in work in the future.
